Living by Faith
Habakkuk 2:4b
Hab. 2:4b but the just shall live by his faith.
Notice the personal pronoun his faith. This makes faith a personal matter. You and I cannot make this journey of faith on someone else’s faith. We must have and posses our own personal faith in God.
Even an atheist has faith. He has faith that there is no God, he has faith that the Bible is not true. And so everyone has some kind of faith. It is not a question if a man will have faith, but what kind of faith will man have. Some people have faith in themselves apart from God. Some people put their faith and trust in things when they don’t even realize it. You go to a doctor you have never met, he gives you a prescription that you cannot read, you take it to a druggist that you have never seen, he mixes the ingredients and gives you the medicine. And then you take that medicine as though you knew what you were doing. You have exercised faith in the doctor, in the druggist, and in the medication. We have faith that we exercise every day.
What makes the Christian faith so powerful? It’s the object or the person of our faith. We believe in a personal God and Savior.
Faith determines what God can do in our lives.
Matthew 9:29 Jesus said to two blind men, according to your faith, so be it unto you. He did not say according to your finances, He did not say according to your fortunes, He did not say according to your friends, He said according to your faith, so be it unto you. That means we get to choose. We get to choose how much God is going to bless our lives. We get to choose what God is going to do in our home, in our business, in the lives of our family. According to your faith, so be it unto you. God puts it on the level where all of us are equal. And this is one of the great benefits of faith. Four hundred eighty-five times in the New Testament the word faith or belief is used because that is the way God blesses our life and apart from faith God cannot bless our life.
So I encourage you to live a life of faith!
