Face to Face Relationship

SCRIPTURE
Deuteronomy 34:10. “There has never been another like Moses whom the Lord knew face to face.”
OBSERVATION
This passage was written right before the death of Moses. Because of the relationship Moses had with God, he didn’t need anyone to mediate for him, that’s what the scripture means - He knew God face to face.
What’s interesting is one of the things that pulls us away from knowing God face to face - is how busy we get, priority things, huge stuff happening on around us.
Moses is a guy that was surrounded by the big and yet he was faithful in the small.
For Moses “the big” was, Pharaoh, the plagues, parting the Red Sea, Manna, food coming down from heaven, ark of the covenant, Mt. Sinai, Mt. Horeb - the 10 Commandments – There was a lot of BIG stuff and busyness that surrounded Moses.
Yet in the midst of the big, he didn’t lose sight of being faithful to God in the small. In the midst of all the noise - chaos of the people surrounding him - he sensed God’s presence.
Let me just give you a summary of what Moses did, because this is how it relates to us. Here’s the point: He loved God and he loved others. That was the life of Moses. He loved God and he loved others. The message of the Bible, the message of Moses is very consistent. God’s call to us is to love because God is love – Aloha Keakua.
APPLICATION
Moses spent 40 years walking in the desert, being faithful to God, loving Him and loving others. It wasn’t a cake walk.
Our lives are surrounded by distractions where the enemy smashes our noses in our weakness that we can’t even see our strength.
Here’s what I must do and that is to be like Moses and remember God’s promise because this is what will help me with my relationship with God in spite of all my distractions. In the moment of doubt with Moses lacking confidence here’s what happened. God says, “I will be with you.” That’s a promise. With the promise comes His presence.
And with His presence comes His power.
What’s His power? “God replied, ‘I am the one who always is.’” (or in other translations – “I am Who I Am.”)
God says, you’ve got My promises and with My presence I bring My power. I am the one who always is.
PRAYER
Lord God I thank you for your promises, presence and power that sustains me through anything that I go through. Thank you for loving me to be with me and guide me through the every lasting way. Amen.
