Courage

“You make me brave,
You make me brave,
You call me out beyond the shores into the waves.”
– You Make Me Brave by Bethel Music

Bethel Music just released their highly anticipated album, “You Make Me Brave”, a few days ago. I couldn’t help but ponder over the title of this album and what it actually means.

I am reminded of the verse in 2 Timothy 1:7, that God did not give us a spirit of fear and timidity, but a spirit of power, love and self- discipline. God has given us the spirit of power, love and self- discipline that we may endure the trials and hardship in life. Because the truth is, God is actually fighting our battles for us. He is for us and not against us.

But the only thing that we need to learn to do is allow Him to. Just like Peter stepping out from the boat to approach Jesus, we need to learn to step out, to take that first step. That step of faith is crucial because without faith, it is impossible to please God.

And by doing that, we need to learn to trust Him in all that we do. The Spirit of power and courage is already in you. But in order for it to come out, we need to trust that God will fight for us, because boldness and courage comes from God alone.

So take heart, God has made you brave. Rest in His amazing love, He has won that victory for you!
