You repeated after the Pastor. You prayed the sinner’s prayer. You accept Jesus into your lives. You asked Him to be the Lord and Master over your life. You gave your life to Him for the first time. You rededicated you life to Him once again. Now what?
“Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.” - Hebrews 11v1
The Bible explains faith as something that we hope for that we do not see. Jesus reminded Thomas in John 20v29, that it is better to believe in something without seeing, than seeing and then believe.
Most of us, if not all of us have heard the saying that having faith is like walking on water. To receive Jesus in your life is to take that first step into the waters as we believe and put our trust in Him. That is true.
But may I also add, that walking on water is just the beginning of this journey in Christ. Some of us think that all we need to do is take that first step of faith, and we’ve accomplished “receiving Jesus” in our lives. Although all of it is true, it is not entirely complete unless we continue to take the next step, and the next step, and the consecutive steps after.
As Christians, believing in Christ in taking that first step is important. But the next steps following up to that first step is just as important. May I also add that your following steps have to be aligned to Jesus.
We are all called to walk the righteous path. But the amazing part of this journey is that God has already laid down the paths for us through Christ Jesus. He has made a way for us to walk. So just walk.
