He Saw, He Heard and He Acted

by Pr Mei Wong

He saw the hardship and afflictions of His people in Egypt. He heard their groaning and their cries. He remembered His covenant with their fore-fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. And He acknowledged them and He acted. God saw, heard and acted because He is a God who keeps His covenant.
If we read the story in Exodus, we will read about God using Moses to be a deliverer for His people. On the day before the Israelites left Egypt, God spoke to Moses and his brother Aaron and the Passover was instituted (Exo 12:1-2).  A lamb that was unblemished was sacrificed and its blood was put on the doorposts and lintel of their houses. Upon seeing the blood, those in that house were spared from death while that night, “…the Lord struck all the firstborn in the land of Egypt…” (Exo 12:29).
As we reflect on what God did, we can rejoice that today “… indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us” (1 Cor 5:7). Because of Christ’s death on the cross, all who call out to Him can have a way of escape from death and move into freedom.  Are you burdened and afflicted, longing for a way out?  Jesus said, “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life.  No one comes to the Father except through Me” (Jhn 14:6). Heed His call and receive salvation.
If we have accepted God’s gift of salvation and are Christians, may we be reminded of our great journey with Him. Let us ponder and recall God’s faithfulness, His love and mercy for us and all who have yet to know and experience Him.  Let us review our passion and our commitment to Him. Let us give thanks because He is a covenant-keeping God who sees all things –  a God who hears our cries and acts on our behalf so that we can be set free to enjoy all that He has for us!
