Sunday Sermon Recap

The Dangers of Drifting - Pastor Tryphena Law

Hebrews 2:1
So we must listen very carefully to the truth we have heard, or we may drift away from it.

We must be open to God to hear what He has to say so that we do not drift far away from Him. Our relationship with God should not be something inconsistent but instead we should be growing closer to Him everyday. If we have felt that we might be drifting away from Him.

Why People Drift?

Depth - Matthew 13:5-7, 20-21
We drift because our relationship with God is very shallow and there is no depth to it.

Denial - Mark 14:10-11
We drift because we deny Jesus in our lives.

Difficulties - Galatians 4:8-11
We drift because of the difficulties we face in our lives that make us change our focus to the things of the world instead of God.

Deception - Galatians 1:6-9
We drift because we are deceived by the lies of the world and we don't know the real truth.
We need to spend time with the truth to know the truth.

Division - Galatians 2:11-12
We drift because of the strive that other people cause that affects relationships and ultimately division.

Revelation 2:2-5
I know your deeds, your hard work and your perseverance. I know that you cannot tolerate wicked people, that you have tested those who claim to be apostles but are not, and have found them false. You have persevered and have endured hardships for my name, and have not grown weary.
Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken the love you had at first. Consider how far you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place.
