If You Want to Walk On Water, You Need to Get Out of The Boat - Josh Yeoh

Matthew 14:13 - 36 // Jesus Feeding the 5000 and Walks on Water.
-When Jesus calls us into the boat, He wants to show us something.

Fix Your Eyes Upon Him
-Look for His eyes.
-Lock eyes with Him. Don't look away like Peter did.
-Listen, before you leap.

The more you say yes to God, the easier it gets.
The more you say no to God, the easier it gets aswell.

Where are you in the story where Jesus walks on water?
Is Jesus calling you out upon the waters, to take that step of faith?

2nd Service
Strengthen Yourself In The Lord
Psalms 51
-Remember His presence.
-Review His promises.
-Surround yourselves with people of faith.

Often when we receive a word from God, it comes in a form of a seed.
We need to plant it and give it time until we see the fruits and the works of God.

Being Disciples in the 21st Century – Elder Ho
Matthew 4:17-25

Often, we take things for granted. In church, we think everyone is fine and that follow/discipleship up isn't very necessary. BUT IT IS.As we live in the 21st century, we enter into a very challenging time. The question is, are we able to be disciples of Jesus and believe that God is still in control of these situation? The storm clouds are coming towards us, they are around us and they are getting stronger and stronger, if we are not deeply anchored in the Lord, the strong winds can easily lower our faith. How do we prepare ourselves to face the storm cloud coming towards us?

“A COMFORTABLE, COMPLACENT and COMPROMISED church has lost its impact,it's contact with God and spiritual authority.”

 DO NOT BE:
COMFORTABLE
- Being in a state of physical or mental comfort contented and undisturbed, at ease.

COMPLACENT
- Pleased, especially with oneself or one’s merits, advantages, situation, etc., often without awareness of some potential danger or defects: self-satisfied.

COMPROMISED
- Something midway between two or more different things. Lukewarm.

So what does it mean to be a disciple?
"Be strong! Do not fear!"
When the disciples stood up,the world changed, the church grew.
So don't fret! Evil will not prevail if we stand up.

1 Samuel 17 – The story of David and Goliath.
In the story of David and Goliath, the Philistines occupied one hill and the Israelites another, with the valley between them. Everyday for 40 days, the Israelites would shout their war cry but as Goliath comes forward every morning and evening and took his stand, the Israelites were dismayed and terrified. In this time of the world, the Goliath has already crossed the valley, destroying our homes, stealing and killing!

“A changing and challenging world and a comfortable, complacent, compromised church is a heartbreak for the Kingdom of God.”

We have lost because we no longer come forward and have lost the tenacity to stand for what is right. Christianity no longer look like Jesus. Is your Christianity that of Jesus? Oftentimes, we tend to conform to the ways of the world. We always tend to look at the external for answers when the solution can only come from inside; repentance.

“Repent, for the Kingdom of God is at hand.” – Matthew 4:17
Repentance is our help against the storm clouds. Repentance is not an apology, not a regret, it is a change; something that you change in your heart, allowing Jesus to transform you from within. Without repentance, we become spiritually stuck, drawn to our own solutions. It is only up to us to decide to repent.

“Follow me.” Matthew 4:19
It is only when we follow Hm that we resemble Him.
Deny yourself and follow Him. This is obedience.
True following of Jesus means not being complacent, comfortable and not compromise.

There are a few things that we need to learn from the Sermon on the Mount at
Matthew 5:7
1.     A new mindset. (Matthew 5:43-45)
- to avoid the misty road of confusion.
2.     A new conviction. (Matthew 6)
Don't act. Don't play church.
3.     A new foundation. (Matthew 7:24-27)
Not just for merry pleasures. A worship from the heart.
- House upon the rock.

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations…” Matthew 28:19
We need to go out and make disciples and not just christians that remain remain stationary.

We need to GO! If we do not rise up, we will only be like the Israelites in the story of David and Goliath, shouting their war cry. But, when David went ahead and fought with Goliath, he did not use any armour or sword(the ways of the world), he went with just a sling and 5 stones(the principles from his encounter with God). After killing Goliath, he went forward and the army of  Israel went forward and chased away the Philistines.

Jesus Christ has accomplished that for us at Calvary, He is with us always and all we need to do is GO! If we do not arise and go, we will only be shouting like the Israelites and shouting will not bring us anywhere, it makes us COMFORTABLE, COMPLACENT AND COMPROMISE. Therefore, GO!

Sunday Sermon Recap

The Dangers of Drifting - Pastor Tryphena Law

Hebrews 2:1
So we must listen very carefully to the truth we have heard, or we may drift away from it.

We must be open to God to hear what He has to say so that we do not drift far away from Him. Our relationship with God should not be something inconsistent but instead we should be growing closer to Him everyday. If we have felt that we might be drifting away from Him.

Why People Drift?

Depth - Matthew 13:5-7, 20-21
We drift because our relationship with God is very shallow and there is no depth to it.

Denial - Mark 14:10-11
We drift because we deny Jesus in our lives.

Difficulties - Galatians 4:8-11
We drift because of the difficulties we face in our lives that make us change our focus to the things of the world instead of God.

Deception - Galatians 1:6-9
We drift because we are deceived by the lies of the world and we don't know the real truth.
We need to spend time with the truth to know the truth.

Division - Galatians 2:11-12
We drift because of the strive that other people cause that affects relationships and ultimately division.

Revelation 2:2-5
I know your deeds, your hard work and your perseverance. I know that you cannot tolerate wicked people, that you have tested those who claim to be apostles but are not, and have found them false. You have persevered and have endured hardships for my name, and have not grown weary.
Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken the love you had at first. Consider how far you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place.

Problems With Drifting
-Lack of fear of sin.
-Lack of repentance over sin
-Lack of victory over sin

Results of Drifting
-Loss of growth
-Loss of grace
-Loss of godliness

Avoid Drifting
-Recognise
-Remember
-Repent
-Return
-Revival

Sunday Sermon Recap

Main Service - Elder Saw Lip Hean

Isaiah 1:1-20

1. Having The Right Concept of God.

In this passage, God is telling through Isaiah to the Israelites that they(the Israelites) do not know their God. You may wonder, how come? How can the God of Israel who have brought them through the desert to the promised land, having done so many wonders and miracles is not known to the Israelites themselves? They say they believe in God, and they do worship Him on Sundays but after Sundays, they return to their normal routines. As they see their neighbours who do not worship God began to reap more harvest than they do, they became anxious then they too began to worship other Gods but they also worshipped God Himself at the same time thinking that they could get the best of both worlds.

Similarly, God is saying to us, you don't know me. The Jews knew Yahweh but they did not worship Him and Him alone. They say they believe but they do not practice what they believe.
So, how do you practice what you believe?
It comes from having the right concept of God. What we think of God will determine how we live and how we live is what we practice. When our concept of God is right, it overflows in the things that we do, when our concept of God is wrong, everything else goes haywire.

How do we know if our concept of God is right?
You see, when we become Christians, we do not become brilliant overnight. We do read the bible but we may not understand what we read sometimes, this is why God gave us teachers. No man is an island, God has given us teachers, individuals who are gifted with better understanding and explaining skills to teach us in theology aspects of God, so that we can have the right concept of Him.

2. Having a Real Experience of God.

Not only our concept of God must be right, our experiences with Him too must be real. When we know why we live, how we live comes naturally.
How do we experience God?
Through prayers, through reading the bible and through spending our quiet time with Him, we can speak to God and He too will speak to us. By spending time with God, He will tell us how to live our lives.

In this passage, Isaiah was trying to warn the people of Israel through the prophecy given by God that Assyria will soon invade their land. However, prophecies are conditional, it is given so that we may know what consequences we will face if we continue our ways. We need to react to God correctly, only then can his judgements be taken away from us.

3. Doing The Right Thing.

In this passage, the Jews are playing religion. They thought they could buy God's favour by coming to church on Sundays, worshipping Him, praying to Him and sacrificing lambs and goats to please God but they still sin on other days, not practicing what they believe in.

Sometimes, we as Christians are like that too. We say we believe but we treat this salvation as an insurance programme. Often times, we get involved in superstitions.
For example, exams are coming next week but you haven't been studying for the past 3 months. Then, you start praying to God thinking that He will grant you good results without studying for your examinations. This is not saying that you should not pray but how can God bless you when you are not working hard to study for your exams?
Prayer works, but prayer works with the right action. Prayer leads you to do the right thing which God will reveal to you when you experience Him, and you can only experience Him when you have the right concept of Him.

Food For Thought.
Do you know your God or are you playing with religion?
Are you experiencing God, or are you caught up in superstitions?

Sunday Sermon Recap

Main Service - Pastor Dorai

2 Corinthians 5: 14 - 21
14 For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. 15 And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.
16 So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come:[a] The old has gone, the new is here! 18 All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: 19 that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. 20 We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. 21 God made him who had no sin to be sin[b] for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

2 Corinthians 6:1 - 2
As God’s co-workers we urge you not to receive God’s grace in vain. For he says,
“In the time of my favor I heard you,
and in the day of salvation I helped you.”[a]
I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation.

At the zero hour of Jesus' life, which was the crucifixion, he chose to die to complete God's will.
In the same way, when we are at our zero hour of our lives, we are to do God's will.
Elder Dorai mentioned the zero hour of Easter is to believe the promise of the God.

Message of zero hour of the cross and resurrection:
The Cross: The cross that Jesus died on signifies the forgiveness of sin and that he has cleared our debts.
The Resurrection: This signifies that he has conquered death and he has given us Everlasting Life!
JESUS HAS CONQUERED SIN, DEATH HAS NO HOLD OVER HIM AND HE IS ALIVE!

Through Christ, he has opened the way for us to be reconciled with Him because He has first loved us!
He sent His son, Jesus as a sacrifice to die on the cross and take away our sins.
Jesus, by bearing our sins on the cross we can now have peace with God.

Jesus has cleared our accounts of sin by dying on the cross. He has paid our debts and we are now free.
God's will for us is to repent and ask God for forgiveness.
After repenting, we are reconciled with God and we need to start walking in the newness of life.

When we are reconciled with God, we live a life that is in harmony with God. His everlasting life has put us in harmony with Christ and we live for Him and live in Him. At the zero hour of our lives, Jesus will show you the way because JESUS IS ALIVE!

Do we have Jesus present at our zero hour?
TODAY IS THE DAY OF GOD'S FAVOUR.
TODAY IS THE DAY TO BE SAVED.

Sunday Sermon Recap

"An Intimate Relationship With Christ" - Pastor Dorai

“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing." -
John 15:5

As Christians, we are part of the vine, we are already connected with Christ, and we do not need to do anything more to be connected because we already are. When we are connected we exist as one because we are in the vine. Jesus says in John 15:26 that we are intimately connected through the Holy Spirit.

We can have an intimate relationship with Jesus through:

The Word
We read the word not because we want to connect but because we are already connected.

Praying the Promises of God
Pray the promises of God into our lives.

Obedience
As we obey, we continue to remain intimate with Him. Obedience is key.

Love
Because He loves us, we also love Him and because we are connected to the vine, we have the same nature of love.

Friendship
We are no longer servants but we are friends.

When we remain in Jesus, the results of our intimate relationship with Christ is our fruits. And when we continue to remain in Him we will bear lasting fruits. The fruits that we bear are fruits of Christlikeness, because the branch–that is us–carries the nature of the vine which is Jesus.

In our journey of building an intimate relationship with God, we need to avoid grieving the Holy Spirit, sin, neglect, departure and disobedience. For it is God’s glory that we may bear much fruit, showing ourselves to be Jesus’ disciples.
