What is God’s will for my life?
What does God want me to do after I graduate?
This question tends to haunt us
whenever we come to a crossroad. We struggle with it when we have to make a
major decision in our life like which course to major in, or which university
should I enroll myself in and what should I do after I graduate.
Anxiety creeps up whenever you
are vulnerable every time you think about your future plans. You can’t help but
plan your future steps without realizing that you are planning your future
without God’s help.
May I suggest 4 reminders that
would ease your burden in finding God’s will for your life?
1.
We don’t need to pursue God’s will.
The truth of the matter is,
that God the Father loves us. Every father wants the best for his children.
That same goes to our Father in Heaven. He willingly gave up His one and only
son for us so that we can be with Him. God’s desire for us is to be with Him.
Therefore, we are free from the burden of trying to pursue and figure out what
His will is for us. It is not a maze or a competition where we fight and strive
in order to reach the end goal. Yes, God is sovereign. He can turn things
around for us even when we think we are lost. But will you still trust Him?
2.
Our faith is built in the unknown.
Think about this for a moment;
if we knew every little detail of God’s will for our future, there would be no
reason for us to have faith in Him. When the road gets bumpy, do we still trust
that He is in control, or do we throw in the towel and walk the other way? As
we take a step into the unknown, God’s sovereign and loving hands is there to
walk us through. Sometimes, God allows us to go through the tough and difficult
decisions in life so that we can come to the realization that we cannot do this
on our own. At that place, our faith is built.
3.
Seek counsel.
We were never meant to walk on
this earth alone. God has given us a community to belong in. His intend for us
is so that we can build each other up through encouragements, words of
affirmation, and inspiration. But He gives us a community so that we can seek
help from as well. Many times, we think we know what God is doing in our lives
without seeking confirmation from our Pastors or leaders. We need to seek
counsel from someone who is older, more spiritually mature that they can help
us discern what God is doing in our lives.
4.
Be confident.
If God has given us a new
heart, then what we desire in our hearts should be what He desires as well. The
problem is, we want to put our own desires in and convince ourselves that it is
God’s will. We work on the peripheral that the Spirit will lead us through the
storms. Therefore, be bold in your decision- making and trust that God will
walk you through it.
