Anyone who has been driving,
or drives would know that directions are very important. Any experienced driver
would know that in order to not waste time driving around aimlessly, one should
chart their route before starting their journey.
When I got my drivers license 4
years ago, I was very excited to drive. I felt all grown up now that I could drive by myself. But I must admit that my bearings aren’t that great, although
they’re much better now. When I was allowed to drive the car all by myself for
the first time, I got lost. I spent half an hour driving aimlessly trying to
look for a friend’s house in a new housing area. I did not own a smartphone back
then, so the option of Google Maps was not there.
Getting a little off course in
that brief moment only cost me my time, and my petrol. But as I look back now,
I begin to compare and think that getting off course in the big picture of life
would cost me a bigger price.
The truth is no one wants to
look back in their rearview mirror of life to realize that they’ve spent most
of their time and energy heading off course. The painful part of that is that
you can’t reclaim those years. We just have to move on.
But how can you be certain that
you’re on the right course in life? It is by allowing God to take the wheel.
When we surrender our lives to Him, He takes control of our lives. We just need
to trust that Him. God has a destiny for all of us. Yes, most of the time, we
don’t know what He’s doing. But we can rest assured that His will for us is
good.
“For
I know the plans (destiny) that I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to
hurt you, plans to give you a hope and a future.” – Jeremiah 29v11
